Moscow Institute of Physic and Technology is a leading Russian university providing training in physics, mathematics and cross disciplines.

When can prospective international students apply?

Applications are open all year round, however, MIPT Intake 2019 has application deadlines depending on the language of instruction, mode of study and degree level. Russian medium undergraduate, graduate, PhD programmes application deadline (self-funded studies): 23 August, 2019; English medium undergraduate programmes application deadline (self-funded studies): 23 September, 2019; graduate and PhD studies application deadline (self-funded studies): 23 October, 2019. What documents do foreigners have to submit for undergraduate/graduate studies?

Documents required of Russian medium undergraduate programmes applicants:

  1. Passport.

  2. Russian language course certificate.

  3. Previous education document/degree (for example, secondary school/college certificate).

  4. CV (includes academic achievement/contest awards).

Documents required of English medium undergraduate studies applicants:

  1. Passport.

  2. Previous education document/degree (such as secondary school/college certificate).

  3. CV (includes academic achievements/contest awards, scientific publications).

  4. Cover letter.

  5. Language proficiency certificate (B2 or similar level).

Documents required of Russian medium graduate programmes applicants:

  1. Passport.

  2. Russian language course certificate.

  3. Undergraduate degree or its equivalent with the transcript.

  4. CV (includes academic achievements/contest awards, scientific publications).

Documents required of English medium graduate programmes applicants:

  1. Passport

  2. Undergraduate degree or its equivalent with the transcript.

  3. CV (includes academic achievements/contest awards, scientific publications).

  4. Cover letter.

  5. Two references.

  6. Language proficiency certificate (B2 or similar level).

Prospective international students have to show the following additional documents:

  1. Education documents issued by foreign state (apostilled, if required, or their notarised copies recognised as equivalent to standard Russian education documents) translated into Russian.

  2. Copy of foreign national’s ID with photo, last name, first name, patronymic (if any) and translation of these pages into Russian.

  3. Copy of Russian entry visa (if any) and copy of migration card with entry date stamp.

All translations into Russian have to be made in the first/last names and patronymic, if any, as designated in the entry visa (if available) and duly notarised.

MIPT offers three English-taught undergraduate programmes, ten graduate programmes (five of them were launched in 2019) and ten PhD programmes.

Do I have to take an English examination for English-taught programmes?

English-taught undergraduate programmes applicants take an English test and two examinations in field-specific subjects depending on the programme. Language proficiency certificates do not exempt the applicant from the English entrance test. English-taught graduate programmes applicants do not have to take an English examination.

Can I take entrance exams online?

This year, prospective international students have the opportunity to take examinations online. They can also participate in preliminary selection. To request detailed information write to interadmission@phystech.edu.

How much are tuition fees?

Tuition fee depends on the programme and field of study. Bachelor’s degree: Russian medium programmes: 290,000 rubles ($4,462), Applied Physics: 315,000 rubles ($4,846); English-taught programmes: 435,000 rubles ($6,692) a year.

Master’s degree: Russian medium programmes: 295,000 rubles ($4,538), Applied Physics: 330,000 rubles ($5,077); English medium programmes: 435,00 rubles ($6,692) a year.

PhD studies: Russian medium programmes: 320,000 rubles ($4,923), Aerospace Engineering: 375,000 rubles ($5,769) a year; English-taught programmes: 435,000 rubles ($6,692) a year.

Preparatory Department for prospective bachelor’s and masters students: 175,000 rubles ($2,692) for ten months.
