Foreigners to Study Russian in St Petersburg
More than 60 international prospective students enrolled in pre-university studies at Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI” in 2017.
A large part of prep students come from China; some arrived from France, Germany, the USA, Argentina, India, Iran and Morocco. They will take an intensive six-month Russian language course (28 hours a week) before starting classes in profession-oriented subjects. Students can choose engineering, economics or humanities. Some of them were admitted as quota students (Russian government scholarship); others study under contract; tuition fee is 130,000 rubles ($2,260) per annum.
A cultural and entertainment programme is available. Students can go on sightseeing tours of St Petersburg and its suburbs and take part in university events, such as forums, concerts, holidays etc. Those who have completed pre-university training with good results and passed entrance examinations in profession-oriented subjects can continue their education in Russia in basic programmes.
