More than 100 students from Germany, China, Holland, Greece and other countries took short programmes.

MISiS has run three international short programmes this summer. Two focused on materials science which is a regular summer programme offered by an acknowledged world leader in training specialists in this field. It is available to international students with at least two years of completed bachelor’s engineering studies.

The third school, “Mainstreams of IT: Big Data and Project Management,” was a pilot project focused on practical aspects: lectures alternated with master classes on project management, finding compromise for conflicting parties and identifying one’s team role. Students toured Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation’s Engineering Centre and visited an office of Russian IT solutions developer IBS to see Big Data in action.

While experiencing subject-specific study, summer school students learnt Russian, went on sightseeing tours of Moscow and visited museums and exhibitions together with Russian student volunteers.
