Expert PA agency presented annual rankings of national universities.

The top three universities have retained their lead with Lomonosov Moscow State University ranked 1st, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology ranked 2nd and National Research Nuclear University MEPhI ranked 3rd.

The top ten included Saint Petersburg State University, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Higher School of Economics, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Novosibirsk State University and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. Many universities have kept their positions in 2017 rankings, but several have shown improvement on the previous year.

University of Tyumen climbed 11 places from 96th to 85th, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University rose five slots from 99th to 94th, Far Eastern Federal University moved up three places (from 37th to 34th) and Kazan Federal University moved up two places (from 17th to 15th). Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University rose one notch (from 11th to 10th place) as did National University of Science and Technology MISiS (from 18th to 17th), Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (from 21st to 20th) and Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (from 22nd to 21st).

Agency experts based the rankings on three key parameters: education quality, university research activity and the demand for university graduates on the labour market. Assessment relies on analysis of statistical data and target group polls results (more than 30,000 people filled out questionnaires in 2017).
