International Students Testimonials
Kevin Gledhill, USA
I liked living conditions, and I had a wonderful time in a Russian family
The information provided before arriving was very helpful. I had some difficulty explaining the requirements of my language study fellowship. I ended up taking a TORFL exam to meet their requirements that were above my level of (spoken) Russian. More clarification about exams would be helpful if given before the start of the programme. I did enjoy my time studying the programme of the Russian language. Individual courses were extremely helpful to my progress with the language. The most challenging aspect of studying was attempting to correct ingrained mistakes in my use of grammar.
I found the living conditions to be pleasant and enjoyed my time with my host family. I would advise future students not to put themselves in situations where it is easy to speak their own language. I allowed my tiredness after classes to stop me from speaking as much as I would have liked with the family. The town is a bit quiet, but benefits from its location that allowed for nice excursions.
The university has a good central location, but I would like to have access to library resources on Sundays, when it was closed. My teachers were excellent, friendly, and thorough. I am extremely grateful to them. The personnel of the International Office was very helpful, readily providing any help or information that I requested.
I enjoyed my stay in Petrozavodsk. I would recommend this programme to others.
