A degree in economics provides students with a broad education encompassing business, law, and public policy. By studying how individuals, corporations, and governments allocate resources to achieve their goals, students gain an understanding of how markets and pricing work. Through classroom instruction and research, students sharpen their quantitative, analytical, and reasoning skills and acquire tools for approaching questions in the broader social sciences. Special tracks are offered in finance, banking, management, accounting, and mathematics, allowing students to gain more specific knowledge in a certain area of interest. Graduates are well prepared to begin their careers or pursue graduate degrees in a variety fields, including finance, politics, law, media, and international affairs.
