The programme offers high-quality training for students in both climatic and hydrological resources.  Our graduates possess knowledge on modern-day problems of climatology, climatologic data processing, hydrological processes study, new technologies of hydrometeorological and ecological engineering research, and also procedures in exploration of swampy territories.

Career.

Our alumni are involved in studying the atmosphere, land water, oceans and seas, climate change, including research, project and teaching activity. Industrial work is also an option given the graduate possesses a Bachelor's degree in Hydrometeorology.

Programme contents

The main subjects of the programme are: "Theory of general atmosphere circulation", "Atmosphere electricity", "Aviation weather forecast", "Applied satellite information", "Regional ecology", "Physical basics of influence on atmosphere processes", "Computer technologies in hydrometeorology", "New forecast models in quantitative weather forecasting". Students' research are supervised by teachers of the Department of Meteorology and Climatology or employees of the Institute of Monitoring the Climatic and Ecological Systems (SB RAS).

Students are able to have internships in regional and national centres of hydrometeorology and monitoring of the environment, research institutes and other organizations dealing with studies of the atmosphere, hydrosphere and climate change. Moreover, we have internships in OAO "Tomsk Research and Project Institute of Oil and Gas of the Eastern Oil Company" (OAO "TomskNIPINeft VNK").

The graduates may continue their studies as PhD-students.

Admissions

Admission is competitive, students with Bachelor’s degrees or higher are eligible. The admission tests are an exam in Hydrometeorology and an interview.
