Programme Focus

The program provides the students with a comprehensive scientific vision of various areas across the globe; patterns and trends of their performance and development; mechanisms of regional processes; etc. Doing the program the students acquire fundamental knowledge in the field of transregional studies on the profiles of “Russia-Neighboring Regions”, China, Arab world. The curriculum features both fundamental theoretical disciplines and more specialized subjects, providing the students with in-depth knowledge of Russian, Arab East and Chinese History, their geography, domestic and foreign policies, diplomacy, economy, demography and culture, inter-ethnic and interfaiths relations.

Programme Advantages lie with highly qualified teaching staff in the first place, including leading Russian experts in international relations working with Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MGIMO University, the RAS Institute for Far East Studies. The programme is implemented jointly by three faculties: Humanities and social Sciences Department, Economics Institute and Law Institute. The curriculum includes an intensive course of two foreign languages (English, French, German, Spanish Arabic, or Chinese electively). Students are given the opportunity of professional internship (with a view of a possible job offer) in leading research centers, governmental bodies, local authorities, Russian and international business structures, Russian and international non-profit and public organizations, news agencies, mass media. Students’ academic mobility is effected through overseas internship programs.

BA in Transregional Studies Program prepares specialists for the following types of professional institutions: agencies maintaining diplomatic, foreign economic and cultural contacts with the countries and regions across the globe; informational support and analytical expertise for business structures and consulting companies; PR-services and mass media; agencies for humanitarian cooperation and cultural exchange; event-management in the sphere of culture and science; public authorities, non-governmental, charitable and public organizations.
