Summer Schools for International Students: Applications Open

19 April 2017 © TSU

Russian universities have announced 2017 short summer programmes.

As a rule, summer schools in Russia offer one- to eight-week programmes from June till September. Each programme is field specific. Some schools offer international students Russian language courses both for the beginners and intermediary learners requiring more practice or deeper immersion.

Specialised summer schools are focused on various subjects. Students can take up maths or database analysis, study history of architecture or learn how to make video games. Some schools address launching of startups and business project development and promotion.

Students receive certificates upon completing summer school programmes. A number of schools “award” international or education ECTS credits. ECTS is a standard for comparing the study attainment and performance of students of higher education across the European Union.

After summer school classes, students can go on museum tours, visit parks, attend cultural events and even embark on a cruise of Russian rivers.

Classes are conducted by university teachers and visiting professors from foreign universities, business people, scientists, artists and other prominent figures who can share their experience with students.

During summer months, international students can brush up their Russian, sample tuition specifics in the target university, learn more about the city they have chosen for studies and find new friends.

It is recommended to enrol in programmes in advance as the number of summer school students is limited. As a rule, applications open in late March – early April.
