The city on the Neva has been recognised as a most visited city in Europe for the third time.

St Petersburg has again won World Travel Awards, the most prestigious travel industry prize. The Organising Committee hailed it as “Europe’s leading city destination.” Russia’s northern capital bested Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Paris, Rome, Venice and Vienna having recorded more than two million international arrivals in the first half of 2017. Visitors choose the city because of its impressive cultural heritage. They marvel at its architectural ensembles, drawbridges, parks, fountains and museums.

St Petersburg is a host city of well-known Russian universities. You can enter a Petersburg university and explore the city’s places of interest in your spare time. Many tourists come to St Petersburg in June and July in order to see the famous White Nights. Universities run international summer schools during that period. Participation in short programmes is an excellent opportunity for international students to balance studying with leisure activities.
