Eighteen Russian Universities Listed in THE Rankings

World’s top university rankings provider published a new report.

Lomonosov Moscow State University (MGU), placed 194th, leads other Russian higher education institutions in THE rankings. It is followed by Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology which advanced to the 251-300 bracket moving up 50 positions compared with the rankings in 2016. National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University was third best moving up 200 positions to the 300-350 bracket.

Higher School of Economics moved up 50 slots to the 351-400 bracket. Samara University and National University of Science and Technology (MISiS) improved their positions too. Six Russian universities, including Kazan (Volga region) Federal University and National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) kept last year positions. All the above universities are also placed in prestigious QS World University Rankings.

THE rankings, composed by Britain’s Times Higher Education magazine are among the world’s most influential. Universities are ranked by such criteria as teaching, reputation for research excellence, citation, research productivity etc.
