The TechnoCup 2017-2018 organisers are Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and Bauman Moscow State Technical University, the largest engineering universities of the Russian capital.

Registration is open to 8th-11th grade schoolchildren residing in Russia and other countries. Contestants are invited to test their skills in solving IT problems in either of the online elimination rounds held on 15 October and 12 November 2017. Olympiad problems are presented both in Russian and English. The young programmers who successfully cope with the tasks advance to the finals to be held on the organiser universities premises.

TechnoCup has been recognised as 2nd Tier Olympiad this year meaning that the winners entering Russian higher education institutions are entitled to preferences which can vary depending on the university. For example, the Olympiad winners enrolling at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology get the maximum 100 points at the Unified States Exam in computer science. Also, the schoolchildren who take the first three places will be given tablet computers or iPods.
