Institute of Biology (IB)

The IB is a scientific and educational center fitted out with modern labs, computer classes, and wi-fi. The Institute has its own greenhouse, zoological museum, herbarium, library, as well as sport and fitness halls. It consists of four departments with an active research staff.  

The building also hosts a modern canteen. Students may stay in a comfortable residence hall five minutes from the Institute. 

The IB actively deals with educational institutions in France, USA, Germany, Cuba, as well as enterprises in the Tyumen region. IB students have training practices at the biostation "Lake Kuchak" or at the training and research station "Solnyshko" (Tuapse city) at the Black Sea.

Institute of Chemistry (IC)

Taught to make ecologically and technically secure decisions, students of the IC obtain profound knowledge in chemistry and in other related sciences.

The IC possesses everything for student engagement in research; for example, up-to-date equipped laboratories.

Alongside teaching, staff carry out research in petrochemistry, nanotechnologies, surface chemistry, physical and chemical expertise, as well as ecological monitoring, among others. 

Graduates of the IC are requested in the biggest oil-and-gas companies, medical-pharmaceutical and ecological organizations, research institutes, and criminal labs.

Institute of Earth Sciences (IES)

The IES holds a unique place among the UTMN’s structural units. Recently, the UTMN has undertaken a mission to upgrade the ecological situation in oil-producing regions. This serves as a high-priority mission and an outstanding possibility for research. Students at the IES obtain field practice in diverse parts of the, for instance, at Lake Baikal, and senior students can have internship at the scientific-analytical centers of the Tyumen region.

Institute of Finance and Economics (IFE)

The IFE proudly considers itself the focus of the university academic life. It centers on interdisciplinary (economic and sociological) theoretical and applied research and on the expert approach for practical solutions to the region’s economic activities. 

Thanks to the outstanding instruction of our 30 Doctors of Science and 116 Candidates of Science, 80% of the IFE students hold managerial positions in various market segments. Another pleasant aspect is IFE’s beautiful building, situated in the historical area of Tyumen. It possesses the up-to-date resource and a solid research foundation.

Institute of History and Political Sciences (IHPS)

The IHPS carries on the tradition of Russian historical education. Our notable faculty include professors N. P. Matveeva, A. G. Emanov, S. V. Kondratev, S. S. Pashin, V. M. Kruzhinov, A. A. Kononenko, V. M. Moskovkin, Z. N. Sokova, all of which not only deliver excellent lectures, but also give classes during expeditions, on the excavations, and within museums and libraries. 

Professors and students participate in conferences and conduct research on a variety of scholarships such as those from the RSF (Russian Science Foundation), the Russian Humanitarian Science Foundation, the RFBR (Russian Foundation for Basic Research), the Presidential Scholarships for Distinguished Achievement, and the DAAD scholarship (German Academic Exchange Service). IHPS graduates have the opportunity to become teachers, experts and analysts, museum and library workers, or government employees.

Institute of Mathematics and Computer Sciences (IMCS)
Students of the IMCS obtain a classical education in mathematics and programming, which includes profound theoretical knowledge and good practical experience for solving research and production tasks. We pay special attention to popular majors, such as Applied Mathematics. Our graduates are highly valued not only in the domestic labor-market, but also worldwide.
Institute of Philology and Journalism (IPJ)

As a structural unit of the UTMN, the IPJ chose a practice-oriented teaching method for its students. During the program, students work in the largest Russian and international companies with the possibility of future employment. Our faculty conducts intense research, and the IPJ today offers studies that are aimed at obtaining all degrees -- such as undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate. Within the IPJ, there are 34 doctors of science and 82 candidates of science willing to share their competence in various areas of their studies. Annually, our students and professors take part in international conferences and win different academic scholarships. We provide Russian and international students with comfortable conditions for studies, accommodation, medical center, canteens, theater, musical studios, and innovation labs.

Institute of Physical Education (IPE)

The IPE of the UTMN is one of the largest providers of the elite sport and physical health in Russia. Two decades have revealed the best professors with academic and sport degrees who consider all the necessary requirements for the higher education in their work with students.

Special attention should be paid to the IPE’s infrastructure, which consists of the Center for Winter Sports, 15 fitness centers, training and research stations, a swimming pool, and a shooting range. The Institute has modern diagnostic equipment for the medical examination of sportsmen.

Several world sport stars were trained at IPE: award-winning biathlonists Albina Akhatova, Evgeni Garanichev, Olga Melnik, paralympic champions Nikolai Polukhin and Elena Remisova, famous alpinist Maria Krasavina, athlets Denis Kudriavtsev, and Sergey Sviridov among others.


Institute of Physics and Technology (IPT)

The IPT trains high-class professionals, scientists, and engineers in physics and other related spheres.  Experienced practitioners and famous scientists exploring a number of fundamental problems in laser and molecular physics, radio and thermal physics, and mechanics of multiphase media teach our students. In addition to obtaining internationally recognized research results, students of the Institute do practical training at the largest research institutes, oil-and-gas companies, and industrial enterprises with the possibility of the future job placement.

Institute of Psychology and Pedagogy (IPP)

On a region-wide scale, the IPP of UTMN is of great importance for future professionals of pedagogical and psychological education.

The Institute provides education for bachelor, specialist, master, graduate and postgraduate students who develop a teaching methodology for future students of the Institute. Likewise, all teachers within the Tyumen Region can obtain greater qualifications through teacher training.  The IPP is proud of its developments in the sphere of pedagogical education, especially of the special major – Speech Pathology.

Institute of State and Law (ISL)

The ISL qualifies high-ranked lawyers and attorneys, representatives of the customs and tax administration, as well as representatives of government, public, and commercial organizations.

The Institute carries out international activity in many areas, actively cooperating with the world’s leading universities.

The ISL attracts leading experts from Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia to take part in its forums. Students and professors carry out research, regularly obtain fellowships, and undergo training in Germany, France, the USA, Canada, and Finland.

Researchers at the institute examine the laws in place and provide academic and legal expertise.

Graduates of the Institute hold key positions in business structures, legislative, executive, and judicial authorities. Many are successful attorneys and lawyers.
