Students from more than 50 countries took part in the traditional Russian holiday.

Every year the Crepe Week or Maslenitsa becomes a time when international students of the Far Eastern Federal University learn more about Russian traditions. Such events are an excellent opportunity for students from other countries to make new friends and learn more about our country.

This year, the holiday guests were dancing, took pert in fun contests and of course taste some refreshments. Festive celebrations began with a round dance (khorovod), which brought together all students. After this quests were told about the history of this holyday and it’s symbolism.

After the "historical reference" the turn of events came. The most "loud" students tried to "wake up a bear" by singing or shouting Russian folk songs and proverbs. Those who wanted to prove their strength and agility took part in throwing a broom, running in sacks and tug of war. Celebrations ends by tea party with the traditional pancakes which are the main Crepe week delicacy.
