How students are supported during the epidemic.

Restaurants, cafes, shops etc. have laid off many students including foreign nationals amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Some universities scrambled to help their students find new jobs.

Tomsk State University was the first to launch an e-labour exchange. It currently offers 200 vacancies, from call centre employee to teacher’s online class assistant. University of Tyumen is preparing to launch a job search website for students; its Career Centre currently consults students on side job opportunities. The Russian Education and Science Ministry supported the student employment programme; Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University and Far Eastern Federal University have student labour exchanges in the pipeline.

Some universities like Peter the Great St Petersburg Polytechnic University will provide 2,200-ruble COVID-19 relief checks to full-time international students.

Many universities (RUDN University, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University etc.) cancelled on campus housing rent for those who chose to return home for the period of the epidemic. They can continue to study online from any corner of the world. Far Eastern Federal University went as far as to allow its underachievers to resit tests online.
