RUDN University Checks Foreigners’ Knowledge of Russia

Students from 11 countries were announced winners of an intellectual contest.

RUDN University held the contest “Do I know Russia?” for 1st to 3rd year bachelor’s students from abroad. The competition was held as separate events for natural science, engineering, and humanities students who answered questions about Russian history and culture. All participants were surprisingly knowledgeable, and those with identical top scores shared the 2nd and 3rd places.

Aleksandra Milicevic, Montenegro, won the first place in the contest between natural science and engineering students. Physics student Jovana Purovic, Montenegro, and medical student Daria Milovic, Serbia, shared the 2nd place. Nenand Zindovic, Montenegro, Faculty of Medicine, Jonathan Labranche, Haiti, Engineering Academy, and Khalimakhon Kakhorova, Tajikistan, Faculty of Economics, shared the 3rd place. In the contest between humanities students, the first place was shared by Law Faculty students Nomun Zhmsranzhav, Mongolia and Alexandra Bargandzhiya, Abkhazia. The runners up were Lee Eun-Jung, South Korea, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Luc Thi Thu Hien, Vietnam, Economics Faculty and Kumushu Musayev, Kyrgyzstan, Law Faculty. The third place went to future lawyers Wan Man, China and Firdavs Tadzhimov, Tajikistan, economics student Zaki Ahmad, Afghanistan, and philology student Yana Perepilyuk, Moldova.

Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia pays much attention to international events. The university holds National Culture Days, beauty pageants, KVN standup comedy shows, concerts and festivals. Planet South West is a major RUDN University festival where foreign nationals tell about traditions of their countries and arrange master classes and games. Several thousand guests visit it every year. For years, the university has led other Russian higher education centres in terms of the number of international students.
