Fifty international philology students came for a Samara University short programme in 2018.

The international summer school in Russian language and culture brought together 50 students from Great Britain, Poland, Hungary, Serbia, Taiwan and China. Students from Brazil joined the school for the first time. The students were divided into groups according to their proficiency levels. The beginners mostly studied grammar and basic vocabulary while intermediate students were involved in discussions of more complicated topics such as history of the Russian language, stylistics and borrowings. Literature classes were arranged to review stories by Anton Chekhov, Nadezhda Teffi and Sergey Dovlatov as well as Silver Age poetry. Students saw documentaries and feature films and analysed scenarios and actors’ speeches. A busy cultural programme offered walks around the city and visits to places of interest such as S.P.Korolyov Aviation and Astronautics Museum, Samara Art Museum, Bogatyr village and Stalin’s Bunker. The school participants also joined a city quest.

Many Russian universities offer international students short autumn and winter programmes in various fields, from computer science to law. Such schools provide an opportunity to get to know the university and campus life in Russia and have cross cultural experience. Select the appropriate programme here.
