Brazil hosted the International Mathematical Olympiad on 16-23 July 2017. Schoolchildren from more than 100 countries came to Rio de Janeiro to take part in this prestigious contest. They had to solve three problems on each of the two days of the competition. To accomplish the tasks, they had to be well-versed in algebra and geometry, and even in the Number Theory, combinatorics and other areas of mathematics. The Russian schoolchildren won one gold, three silver and two bronze medals.

Indonesia simultaneously hosted the International Physics Olympiad involving schoolchildren from 88 countries. The Russian schoolchildren captured five gold medals, one more than they managed at last year contest.
