Russian Universities Take Top Spots in New THE Rankings

Times Higher Education released the rankings of best universities across Eurasia nations for the first time.

British agency published THE University Ranking of Eurasia Nations. Universities from 16 countries were surveyed. In the list there are 74 higher education centres from six states, including 27 from Russia. Eighteen Russian universities are in the top 50 including Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University; they took the first three places. Higher School of Economics placed 7th, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI 8th and Kazan Federal University 10th. Novosibirsk State University and St Petersburg State University shared 11th position, National Research Tomsk State University took 14th place, followed by ITMO National Research University (15th), Samara University (25th), Peter the Great St Petersburg Polytechnic University (26th), National University of Science and Technology MISIS (28th) and Lobachevsky University (48th). Far Eastern Federal University, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia and Ural Federal University are in the group (51-60); the next group 61-70 included I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Siberian Federal University and several other Russian universities.

In other prestigious rankings published in 2018, 27 Russian universities entered THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018. Twenty-four Russian universities appeared in QS rankings by subject and 17 in ARWU rankings by subject.
