“Scarlet Sails” Is Best School Leavers Show

The Russian festival became a winner of the prestigious international contest Best Event Awards.

The annual “Scarlet Sails” school leavers show won the 1st Iconic Event Award 2019. The winners were assessed in several categories. In addition to the Grand Prix, the Petersburg festival won two silver awards, Best Musical Event and Best World Event Agency. The projects were judged by creativity, execution, effectiveness, atmosphere etc.

The first romantic school leaving party of the kind was held in St Petersburg in 1968. Back then, all party arrangements were made by the school leavers. The festival has had official status since 2005. It is regarded by right as one of the brightest and memorable Russian shows for school leavers from St Petersburg and other Russian regions. Spectators from across the world travel to Russia’s second largest city to see the show: it gathered more than 1.5 million people last year, with another ten million watching it on TV.

In 2019, St Petersburg got the top Travel Award as Europe’s leading Cultural City destination for the fourth time in a row. The city is regarded as Russia’s cultural capital and a major education centre. It accommodates more than 80 universities including Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI”, Higher School of Economics, ITMO University, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University etc.
