FEFU Interethnic Unity Day Gathers 3,000 Students from 45 Countries
Russia’s far eastern port city of Vladivostok hosted the large festival for the fourth time.
The festival was organised by Far Eastern Federal University to bring together international students from several universities of the region. This year, more than 3,000 participants represented 45 states such as India, Germany, Austria, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Cameroon, Cote-d’Ivoire, Senegal, Zambia, Peru etc. They were introduced to different cultures and traditions from across the world.
A trade show was arranged under the aegis of the festival featuring students’ presentations of national costumes, household items, master classes and games. Students also cooked more than 30 dishes of national cuisines including Indian burfi (milk-based sweet), Egyptian mahalabia (pumpkin dessert) and Moldavian mamalyga (corn flour porridge). The festival ended in a parade of nations and a concert.
