Tyumen Leads in Quality of Life Index

Russia’s oil and gas capital scores most points in city rankings.

Finance University under the aegis of the Russian Government has ranked 37 Russian cities with populations in excess of 500,000 people. Security, quality of education, healthcare, city development, utilities, road condition, average income and desire to relocate were assessed.

Tyumen, a large city in Siberia, emerged as the overall leader; Moscow, Ekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Chelyabinsk were also featured in the rating.

This is not the first time Tyumen takes gold. The city has been seeing brisk development since 1960s when large deposits of oil and gas were discovered in the area.
