Ural Federal University International Olympiad “Emerald” welcomes Russian schoolchildren in 8th - 11th grades and Russian-speaking foreign nationals. Online tryouts will run until 28 February. Participants are requested to register on the UrFU website, fill out the application and choose the subjects. The link to the Olympiad problems will be mailed to your address; you have one hour per problem. Successful candidates qualify for the finals which will take place in towns across Russia in March 2019 (Yekaterinburg, Magnitogorsk, Kurgan, Omsk, Chelyabinsk etc), Kazakhstan (Astana, Alma-Ata, Kostanai, Rudny), Mongolia and other countries. The competition venues and schedule will be published on the university website after the preliminary round.

Medal place winners in physics, Russian, history and social science are eligible for uncompetitive admission to UrFU majors in these fields if they score at least 75 points in the Unified State Exam (EGE) in respective subjects; extra points are awarded to winners in other fields. Trips to Russia will be arranged for prospective students from some countries (Kazakhstan, for example) to take the EGE. Foreign nationals who are unable to take the EGE for some reasons, will get extra points to the general score in the entrance tests, as well as valuable gifts.
