International Сooperation

Ural Federal University actively develops international cooperation and has partnerships with more than 500 foreign universities from all over the globe; the University participates in such international network projects as BRICS University League, BRICS Network University, CIS Network University, Shanghai Cooperation Organization University, University of the Arctic (UArctic), Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU).

UrFU scientists take part in international research programs such as Seventh Framework Program (FP7) of EU, International Higher Education Support program (HESP) of the Open Society Institute and Regional Seminar for Excellence in Teaching (ReSET). Our experts implement a whole range of applied research projects in cooperation with their partners from Germany, USA, South Korea etc.

Every year, more than 200 UrFU students and employees go abroad for academic mobility programs, including through grants of the university; at least 200 students and employees of foreign universities come to UrFU for academic exchange programs and international short-term programs.

UrFU students can spend up to two semesters abroad as part of academic exchange programs at one of the partner universities, including one of the academic mobility scholarship programs (Erasmus+, North2North, Mevlana, First+, DAAD).

UrFU is a corporate member of such international organizations as the Russian international Affairs Council, EMBRI, ECPR, EUCEET, and EFMD.

Ural Federal University is an open space bringing together representatives from different cultures of the world. In 2008, the Confucius Institute, a unique сhinese cultural and educational center was inaugurated at UrFU, and in 2013, the University opened a Thai cultural center.

UrFU has close ties with the diplomatic missions of Germany, France, China, Vietnam, the USA, the UK and many other countries. Every year, more than a hundred foreign delegations representing the world's leading universities, diplomatic agencies and large enterprises visit the University. The unique atmosphere of an international University is created by open lectures given by foreign scientists, diplomats and artists, and international conferences, exhibitions and meetings.
