Kazan Federal University, established over two centuries ago, is one of Russia’s oldest higher education centres. It is famous for its powerful schools of mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry and language study; applicants are offered 300 fields of study.

When can prospective international students apply?

Degree programmes application deadline: 1 June, 2019; foundation programmes application deadline: 1 July 2019. Sign into the website to send your application to the university; KFU International Office staff will reply to you within ten days.

What documents do foreign nationals have to submit for undergraduate/graduate studies?

  1. Copy of passport with notarised translation into Russian. Passport validity must be at least 18 months at the date of entry into Russia.

  2. Previous education document (degree with the transcript), legalised according to regulations, translated into Russian and notarised.

  3. Financial guarantees (account statement, letter of sponsorship etc) proving that the applicant can pay the tuition fee for the first year and cover personal expenses.

What programmes in English are available at KFU?

Two English medium specialist programmes:

  • General Medicine. 

  • Dentistry. 

Ten English medium graduate programmes:

  • Mathematics (Algebra).

  • Fundamental Informatics and Information Technologies (Data Science).

  • Geology (Stratigraphy of Oil and Gas Basins).

  • Geology (Complex Data Analysis in Petroleum Geology).

  • Biology (Pharmacology).

  • Software Engineering (Development of software and information systems) 

  • Oil and gas business (Petroleum Engineering).

  • Management (General and Strategic management).

  • European and International Business Law – the programme was launched in 2019.

  • International relations (Digital Diplomacy) – the programme was launched in 2019.

  • Do I have to take an English examination for English medium programmes?

  • Applicants have to take an English examination (even if they have an English proficiency certificate).

Can I take entrance examinations online?

Skype entrance tests are planned for English medium programmes applicants.

How much are tuition fees?

Undergraduate programme fees range from 142,500 to 207,300 rubles ($2,185 - $3,190) a year; fees for specialist programmes in medicine from 205,200 to 468,000 rubles ($3,157 - $7,200) a year, masters programmes fees from 162,000 to 282,000 rublels ($2,492 - $4,338) a year and PhD programme fees from 148,800 to 159,600 rubles ($2,290 - $2,455) a year.
