The Russian-German Year of Scientific and Educational Partnerships 2018-2020 concluded on September 15.

This international project became possible with the support of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany.

The Russian side of the closing ceremony was held online and took place at NUST MISIS. The event program was very dynamic and included the "Russian-German Dialogue in Education and Science: Creating the Future Together" conference, three podium discussions and the awarding ceremony for 25 winners of the "Russia and Germany: Scientific and Educational Bridges" open competition.

Leading universities of both countries received numerous awards for successful cooperation and organization of shared projects in the field of science and education, including SPbPU, SUSU, Siberian Federal University, UrFU, Dortmund Technical University, Berlin Technical University, Freiberg Mining Academy and several other foremost German universities.

More than a hundred joint studies, international conferences, webinars, student summer schools and other engaging events took place within the year of scientific and educational partnership. Particularly noted were such international projects as "Nanohybrids for Theranostics" of NUST MISIS and the University of Duisburg-Essen, "Traveling Seminar - Nanomaterials and MegaScience Centers" of UrFU and the University of Bayrot and others.

However, after the closing ceremony, the academic cooperation between Russia and Germany proceeds as universities of both countries will continue to develop various joint educational programs.

For example, NUST MISIS has a number of double degree programs in cooperation with several German universities: the Technical University of Dresden, the M. G. Agricola Higher Technical School of Bochum and the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences. SPbPU and Wildau University are also leading a master's degree in industrial management and ITMO University, together with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, directs the Traffic Control Systems and Navigation program.
