A student from Belarus has won an international IT contest for the fifth time running.

The annual international programming championship Google Code Jam administered by Google ended in Canada. Its objective is to identify talented software engineers. ITMO University student from Belarus Gennady Korotkevich won Google Code Jam for the fifth consecutive time having outperformed more than 60,000 rivals, including Japanese and Polish finalists. It’s the longest winning streak in the history of the competition. Gennady also participated in other large competitions both as a team member and individually. He was on ITMO University team which took the first place twice at the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest, and also won Facebook Hacker Cup twice and Yandex.Algorythm four times.

Korotkevich entered ITMO Information Technologies and Programming Faculty (Computer Technology Department) in 2012. In 2018, he got a masters’ degree and applied for postgraduate studies. Gennady took one of the entrance examinations online as he was in Canada.

St Petersburg-based ITMO University provides quality engineering education and is best known for training IT specialists. ITMO students are regular winners of international IT competitions.
