ITMO University is launching the graduate programme “Data, Culture and Visualisation” in 2019. In two years, students will gain the knowledge of full data processing lifecycle, from data acquisition and storage to dissemination, computer technology and mathematical statistics methods. Objects of study: data artefacts and digital media content. The programme includes general subjects such as Creative Technologies, Project Management, Data Processing and Analysis, Applied Artificial Intelligence etc. and optional modules (Research Methods in Cultural Contest, Advanced Cultural Data Analysis). Students will have practice at a university laboratory and implement a project of their own. Graduates will have competences needed in internet marketing, digital advertising, telecommunications, IT research and cultural heritage management.
Tuition fee is 214,000 rubles ($3,290) a year. With good portfolio contest results, international applicants can be admitted without entrance tests. To take part in the contest, candidates have to prepare a personal narrative, a cover letter, teacher’s reference and documents proving scientific achievements. Successfully implemented projects, publications in scientific journals, participation in conferences/exhibitions, scientific awards and grants are taken into account. A copy of bachelor’s degrees and English proficiency certificate have to be forwarded to the University’s Admissions Board. Application deadline is 2 June 2019.
