SibFU plans to unveil new university grounds in 2022.

The construction of modern campuses is underway in Russian cities, an important part of the Russian government programme to attract international students. In Krasnoyarsk, three 17-storey residence halls will be put up on the premises of Siberian Federal University. A 664-room dormitory will accommodate more than 1,300 students. The campus infrastructure will include a cafe, two gyms, a rooftop court, a fitness centre, teaching blocks and a covered parking space. The government allocated some 1.7 billion roubles for the project. New dormitories enable the university to admit more international students and provide comfortable environment to them. SibFU hopes to increase the number of international students two- or three-fold. The University currently provides training to about 1,000 students from 50 countries. Many come from the Commonwealth of Independent States; other regions of origin include Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.

In the future, multi-purpose campuses will be built in Tomsk and Perm. In Tomsk, the new residential area will accommodate 20,000 people and in Perm 6,000. Russian universities plan to increase the number of dormitory places by more than 70,000 in the period from 2019 to 2024.
