Going to a Russian university is a family tradition
I am an electrical engineering major. At first, I wanted to become a math teacher, but following my parents’ advice I applied to the Institute of Energy and Transport Systems of SPbPU. My parents are electrical engineers, both graduated from Moscow universities. So you could say going to a Russian university is a family tradition. I set my heart on going to St. Petersburg because it is a beautiful and modern European city. The university boasts a large campus of which the main building, the White Hall and the park are truly the gems. I am involved in almost every single university event, such as dance festivals and competitions. Before I came to Russia, I had barely known Russian at all, so I had to take a prep course to get prepared for the exams. My poor language skills were a serious setback in my communication with my fellow students, but my dedication and persistence in Russian language studies eventually paid off.
