The aim of the programme is to train specialists in the sphere of Ecology and Environmental Management, capable of providing for environmentally safe living conditions and activities in modern society.
The key scientific areas of the Ecology Department are fundamental and applied studies of the aquatic and terrestrial communities structure and functioning with the use of fractal methodology, development of methods for biological objects 3D images and analysis of their pseudo-symmetry laws, as well as development of theory and methods of regional biomonitoring.
Graduates of the programme work in regional environmental protection authorities, sanitary-epidemiological and hygienic agencies, environmental departments of local administrations, enterprises of the industrial and agricultural sector, scientific-practical institutions and educational establishments.
The Lobachevsky University Laboratory of Theoretical and Applied Ecology, which has accreditation for ecological and toxicological examinations, is the scientific and industrial base of the Ecology Department.
