Programme Focus

The programme aims to shape a specialist, able to use basic knowledge of various socio-humanitarian and natural disciplines; capable of revealing cause-and-effect relations; aware of the origins and nature of phenomena and contradictions of the modern world; in possession of modern methods of philosophical research; well-read in information technologies and foreign languages. Doing the four-year programme the students study a wide range of social and natural science disciplines such as History, Economics, Jurisprudence, Mathematics, Computer Studies, Concepts of Modern Natural Science, as well as a range of specialized philosophical disciplines.

Programme Advantages

The students are lectured on compulsory fundamental disciplines in the sphere of Philosophy (around 30). Further specialization is pursued through a range of elective disciplines (also around 30) in accordance with scientific interests of the students. Thus, the programme envisages a number of educational paths in one of the following: History of Philosophy, Ontology and Epistemology, Social Philosophy, Ethics.

Much attention is given to disciplines, which shape practical skills of working with scientific texts; teach to conduct, record and present scientific research, to express ideas competently and convincingly (verbally and in writing), to speak before an audience, to hold a scientific discussion.

The curriculum includes an intensive course of a European language (English, French, German or Spanish electively) or Eastern language (Arabic or Chinese); a compulsory course of the Latin language. Students are actively engaged in research work, in particular in the framework of Students ' Scientific Societies, participate in scientific and research-to-practice conferences.

Perspective vocational areas include secondary professional education institutions; academic institutions (institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences); archives, museums, libraries; expert and analytical centers; mass media; federal and local governmental bodies.
