Students receive the fundamental knowledge and professional skills in the area of modern interlingual and intercultural communication.

In the academic process, active and interactive lesson forms are widely used (dialog-type seminars, discussions, computer simulations, business and role-playing games, case studies, psychological training, group discussions, student research group reports, university and inter-university teleconferences), as well as expert master classes and practical lessons, teaching of classes in author course form. Leading researchers and professors from Russian and international universities are invited annually to read lectures, lead practical lessons, and supervise masters’ research activities.

A translator can perform the duties of a legal assistant (business correspondence, preparation of analytical surveys and reports, participation in negotiations.) Graduates of this master’s program qualify for a wide range of vacancies besides pure translation, for example those which require solid knowledge of two foreign languages, a wide general cultural perspective, and skills in the area of intercultural communications.

Graduates can perform research and teaching activities in educational institutions (primarily in universities) and also realize themselves in the fields of artistic and special translation, editorial work, project work in cultural institutions, consultation work in linguistic and national politics and inter-ethnic relationships in administrative offices.
