  • Linguistics and Literary Studies (Language Theory)

    During postgraduate studies, the students will fully master the competencies of scientific, critical, and creative thinking, applied skills and abilities: they will be able to identify, theoretically substantiate and convincingly explain the relationship between the facts of different languages and linguistic states of one language to reveal its universal and specific properties; master modern methods of obtaining linguistic data (including experimental data), their theoretical, linguistic, instrumental, statistical analysis, processing with the use of information and innovative technologies, and will be able to use the obtained information to solve problems in the field of language theory. They will take part in scientific and practical conferences and grant research; prepare their dissertation research for defence; be able to plan out their professional career; and learn to work in a team of Russian and international researchers.

    The obtained classical education in the humanities will allow the graduates to easily adapt to new activities while creatively using their obtained skills.

  • Linguistics and Literary Studies (Language Theory)

    This programme involves the training of researchers in the field of language theory, the study of the main fields of research in modern linguistics, the stages of research, and the methodological base of research.
  • Linguistics and Literary Studies (Comparative, Historial, Typological, and Contrastive Language Studies)

    The graduates will be able to fulfil their potential in the field of research and teaching in the field of philology and linguistics, as well as in related fields of humanitarian knowledge. The resulting classical education in the humanities will allow the graduates to easily adapt to new activities while creatively using the acquired competencies.

    During postgraduate studies, students will fully master the competencies of scientific, critical, and creative thinking, applied skills and abilities: they will be able to compare and theoretically substantiate the facts of different languages, conduct research in the field of translation and translation studies; master modern methods of collecting linguistic data (including experimental data), their theoretical, linguistic, instrumental, and statistical analysis, and apply these data to solve problems in the field of linguistic typology and comparative studies. The students will participate in scientific and practical conferences and grant research; prepare their dissertation research for defence; will be able to plan their professional career; and learn to work in a team of Russian and international researchers.

  • Linguistics and Literary Studies (Applied and Mathematical Linguistics)

    The graduates who have mastered the Applied and Mathematical Linguistics major of the Linguistics and Literary Studies postgraduate programme will be able to fulfil their potential in the field of research and teaching in philology, linguistics, as well as in related fields of humanitarian knowledge. The obtained classical education in the humanities, combined with mathematical and applied skills, will allow the graduates to easily adapt to new activities while creatively using the acquired competencies.

    During postgraduate studies, the students will fully master the competencies of scientific, critical and creative thinking and applied skills. They will be able to conduct research on the development of models and algorithms for automatic text processing; use a formal apparatus for modelling natural language; will master modern methods of collecting language data (including experimental data), their instrumental and statistical analysis and processing with the use of information and innovative technologies, and will be able to use these data to solve problems in the field of applied linguistics. They will participate in scientific and practical conferences and grant research; prepare their dissertation research for defence; will be able to plan their professional career; and learn to work in a team of Russian and international researchers.

  • Linguistics and Literature Studies (Russian Literature)

    The objects of professional activity of the graduates upon completing this Postgraduate studies programme are:
    1. languages (native and foreign) in their theoretical, practical, functional and other aspects;
    2. various types of texts in their historical and theoretical aspects (for example, Russian and foreign literature, opinion journalism, literary criticism, etc.), written in different eras, which includes those published in mass media, in the means of electronic communications, and in the forms of oral speech;
    3. oral, written and multimodal (including electronic) interpersonal and mass communication in all spheres of human communication;
    4. linguistic technologies used in various kinds of information systems, specialized software, and electronic resources in the humanitarian sphere.

    Classes are held on weekdays in the evening, and on Saturdays. Flexible schedule of consultations with academic advisors allows postgraduates to rationally organize the educational process at SUSU and successfully combine it with professional activities.

    The practical training is an obligatory section of the educational programme for training scientific and pedagogical staff members in postgraduate studies. The curriculum consists of pedagogical practical training and internship, which are aimed at improving professional skills and gaining the experience in professional activity. The practical training is held at the Department of the Russian Language and Literature.
