The purpose of the educational program is to acquire the level of competencies necessary for the implementation of professional activities and preparation for the defense of a scientific qualification work (dissertation) for the degree of candidate of sciences.

"Biotechnology" trains specialists in such fields of molecular biology and biochemistry as proteomics and genomics, lipidology and membranology, molecular biology and genetic engineering of plants and animals, immunology and virology, as well as in the most modern field such as nano (bio) technology ... Biotechnological disciplines cover such issues as: the foundations of modern concepts in the field of the structure and function of plant and animal cells, basic concepts and techniques of biotechnology, the role of information molecules in the basic biological processes of a cell, techniques and methods for isolating target genes, creating recombinant DNA, choosing a vector, and way of transformation.

It introduces the main problems and achievements in these areas over the past decades and trains specialists with theoretical and practical knowledge in all these areas.

In general, these are any problems associated with metabolic processes occurring with living systems of animal or plant origin. Much attention is paid to professional scientific research biochemical and biotechnological methods. The basic principle of postgraduate studies is the maximum individualization of the learning process.

The objects of professional activity of graduate students are: structure and function of plant and animal cells; mechanisms regulating the development of plants and their organs; cell and tissue cultures and methods of their cultivation; mechanisms of regeneration of whole plants from their parts; methods of obtaining valuable secondary compounds in tissue culture for biotransformation, selection and hybridization; protein, enzymatic, lipid, carbohydrate, hormonal, toxin and low-molecular cell apparatus; basic techniques of biotechnology, genetic engineering and molecular biology; information molecules of the main biological processes of the cell, techniques and methods for isolating target genes, recombinant DNA, vectors and methods of DNA transformation; principles of gene cloning, production of plants and animals with new properties, application of bioengineering in immunology, virology, biotechnology and nanobiotechnology; biological systems of various levels of organization, biomedical, nature conservation technologies, biological expertise and monitoring, assessment and restoration of aquatic biological resources.

The types of professional activities for which graduates who have mastered the postgraduate program are preparing:

research activities in the field of biological sciences;

teaching activities in the field of biological sciences.

independent research activity requiring deep specialized training in the field of biochemistry and biotechnology.

The postgraduate program is aimed at mastering all types of professional activities for which the graduate is preparing.

Potential employers for graduates of this program are: research institutes and industry research institutes (Institutes of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences - the Institute of Marine Biology, the Institute of Biology and Soil Science, the Pacific Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, the Ilyichev Pacific Oceanological Institute of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences) , forensic medical examinations, immunological laboratories, biochemical laboratories of a medical profile, biochemical laboratories of food enterprises, scientific and industrial fishery organizations (FSUE "TINRO-Center"), biotechnological production of a wide profile from genetic engineering and molecular to classical biotechnology and mariculture enterprises, Directorate of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision in Primorsky Krai and Sakhalin Oblast. Graduates of the program can pursue professional careers in science, as well as teach at FEFU and other higher educational institutions.
