Programme Focus:
The Master's programme «International Protection of Human Rights» is the only programme in the Russian Federation and in the CIS countries for training highly qualified specialists in human rights in English. The Master's programme was opened in 2011 and received international accreditation for the maximum possible term of 5 years.
As part of the programme the Interuniversity Resource Center for Human Rights was established. The Resource Center is a place of giving classes for the students enrolled in this programme, as well as a working area and a library, which represents a unique collection of literature in various languages, covering all fields of human rights.
Programme advantages:
During the course Master students have the opportunity to attend lectures of highly qualified lecturers of the department, invited foreign lecturers, participate in master classes of international lawyers.The students participate in teaching practice at the Department of International Law, and internship at Russian ministries and departments, international bodies and organizations (the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UNESCO, the Russian Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies).
As part of the research work the students have the opportunity to take part in scientific and international events and publish their works, as well as to learn several foreign languages.
Graduates’ expertise and career opportunities:
Graduates can apply their knowledge and skills in the framework of their professional activities in international organizations, embassies, consulates, public service (the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Education of Russia, the Ministry of Justice of Russia), as well as practitioners, engaged in filing a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights and other international courts.
