The educational program is aimed at training specialists for the field of activities related to the study of the structure and functional activity of natural physiologically active compounds from biological objects extracted in the seas of the Russian Far East and the World Ocean, the development of methods for obtaining biologically active substances and demanded products based on them. The program includes disciplines, the development of which is necessary to study biochemical processes occurring in nature and reproducible in laboratory or industrial conditions at the cellular or molecular levels, to identify common patterns of such processes and the possibility of controlling them. The main attention is paid to two areas: microbial biotechnology, including research and development of methods for obtaining valuable substances (antibiotics, antitumor agents, immunomodulators, microorganisms and biotechnology of recombinant molecules, including research and development of methods for obtaining genetically modified proteins, including enzymes, as well as their use for obtaining other biological products (low-molecular physiologically active compounds, oligosaccharides, peptides and). The study of special disciplines, the performance of research work will be implemented on the basis of the partner of the PIBOC program and other institutes of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Key disciplines of the program:

Main classes of natural compounds; Application of physical methods to establish the structure of complex organic compounds, including those of natural origin; Microbiology; Biotechnology; Biochemistry; Selected Chapters of Bioengineering; Fundamentals of Molecular Immunology; Introduction to Molecular Pharmacology; Fundamentals of Computer Modeling; OMICS technologies; Methods of Bioassay of Biologically Active Substances.

Partners involved in the implementation of the program:

Pacific Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry FEB RAS (PIBOC FEB RAS).
