Times Higher Education released the rankings of the world’s best universities by student-to-staff ratio.

THE assessment is based on the number of students per one university faculty professor. The prestigious British magazine listed 100 higher education institutions overall; Russia is represented by 11 universities.

Four Russian universities made it to the top 50: Bauman Moscow State Technical University (placed 17th), Saint Petersburg State University (34th), Novosibirsk State University (42nd) and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (49th). Also present in the rankings are Lomonosov Moscow State University (61st), South Ural State University (63rd), National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (67th) and National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University (84th). National Research Tomsk State University and Far Eastern Federal University shared 88th position and Lobachevsky University placed 99th.

The rankings help students decide which universities can provide more individual approach to training. Experts say lower students-to-staff ratio contributes to more effective study. Students are involved in interactive discussions and feedback which are essential for quality education.
