68 Russian Universities in QS BRICS-2018

The list of the best universities in the BRICS countries has been published.

Russian universities move forward rapidly and compete successfully on the global level. This year, 13 Russian universities entered the QS BRICS for the first time. The ones that were in the list last year improved their results. Lomonosov Moscow State University placed 5th position followed by Novosibirsk State University (11th position), St. Petersburg University (13th position), National Research Tomsk State University (26th position), Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (28th position), National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (35th position), Higher School of Economics (39th position) and National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University (49th position).

The top 100 also included Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (55th position), Kazan Federal University (59th position), National University of Science and Technology MISiS (61st position), Lobachevsky University (72th position), ITMO University(75th position), RUDN University (78th position), Far Eastern Federal University (86th position) and Samara University (93th position). In addition, the list included St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI" (106th position), South Ural State University (138th position), Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (151-160 bracket) and Siberian Federal University (171-180 bracket).

Experts evaluate universities of Russia, China, Brazil, India and South Africa used several criteria such as academic reputation, number of international faculty and students, number of research papers. This year, 300 universities were ranked.
