Students from Middle East countries introduced festival guests to national traditions.

South Ural State University students from Iraq, Yemen, Egypt, Jordan, Sudan and Algeria highlighted the Arab culture as they sang folk songs, performed national dances and recited poems about their countries. They also arranged a display of traditional earthenware, figurines, leather products etc. Sudanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia Nadir Yusif El-Tayeb Babiker and Advisor of the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Osana El-Sayed Mahmoud Elservi attended the event this year. An overview of the university, its education programmes, campus life and modern research laboratories was provided to the diplomats.

Russia has a long record of cooperation with Arab countries which appreciate Russian education, especially in such fields as architecture, construction, IT technologies, mechatronics and robotics. SUSU currently has more than 250 students from Arab countries. They mostly choose programmes in engineering and natural sciences. For example, Sudanese students prefer civil and mechanical engineering; students from Egypt also choose engineering professions as well as medicine and chemistry.
