The university offers an English-medium master’s programme to prospective international students.

Far Eastern Federal University is located on the Russky Island in the Sea of Japan. Taking advantage of its unique location, the university offers a number of programmes that have to do with marine research. One of such programmes is Aquatic Biological Research (fields of study: Biology, Use of Natural Resources). The programme is presented by FEFU School of Natural Sciences; length of study is two years, lectures are read in English. Holders of bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Zoology and Marine Hydrobiology are welcome to apply. In 2019, FEFU cancelled entrance tests for master’s studies applicants; they only have to present a portfolio (requirements depend on the programme) and have an interview. Training venue: the international UNESCO department “Marine Ecology,” the only one of its kind in the world. Students study bioinformatics, biostatistics, synergetics, molecular biology and other subjects. They will engage in offshore research, identify enfironmental threats and develop new ways to clean marine environment.

Tuition fee is 290,000 rubles a year; 20 scholarships are available. Graduates are professionals in the field of marine research. They have the competences to conduct biological research, assess the level of environmental threat and estimate possible pollution damage.
