NUST MISIS Students Win Prize of Huawei ICT Competition 2019-2020 in the Cloud Track

Huawei ICT Competition is an annual international contest among universities in the field of information and communication technologies. This time a record number of participants fought for one prize: 150,000 students from 20,000 university and college teams from 82 countries. The MISIS team is the only one of all Russian universities to receive the first prize in the Cloud nomination.

To participate in the competition, using Huawei technologies students of the NUST MISIS ICT Institute developed a trendy project – a prediction model for the COVID-19 contraction, recovery and mortality rates. At the theoretical stage of the Olympiad, the team showed a high level of knowledge of information and communication technologies. During the practice competition, they developed a project using Big Data, artificial intelligence and the Internet of things.

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. has been cooperating with MISIS. In 2018, the joint ICT Huawei and NUST MISIS Academy entered the top 10 among the 600 partner universities of the company from all over the world. The Huawei vendor course Hardware data storage and processing systems have been part of the master IT educational programmes of NUST MISIS for 4 years. Last year, a new course on R&S networking for bachelor programmes was launched as well.
