More than 7,000 students from abroad will study at SPbPU in the 2018/2019 academic year.

The number of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University international entrants has been steadily increasing. This year, 2,054 foreign nationals were admitted to SPbPU versus 1,600 in 2017 and 980 in 2016. International prospective students often choose such fields as civil engineering, intelligent and information systems, information and communication technologies, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electric power engineering, nuclear power engineering, innovative ventures, regional studies etc. More than 600 people chose preparatory programmes and Russian language courses this year. Many first-year students came from Asia, in particular China; others hail from Turkey, Vietnam and Iran. Latin America is represented by students from Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil and Africa by students from Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia. The Commonwealth of Independent States traditionally accounts for a large segment of the international student body with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan being the top origin countries.

Established in 1899, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University is one of Russia’s oldest engineering higher education centres. Its offers quality Russian- and English-medium education. SPbPU has more than 300 foreign partner universities where students can take internships; double degree programmes are available as well.
