Some 58,000 applications to Russian universities were sent from the studyinrussia.ru website in the academic year 2017/2018.
You can apply to the best Russian higher education centres using your personal account on studyinrussia.ru. Overall 13,507 prospective students from 176 countries used this opportunity in the period from 1 September 2017 through 31 August 2018 sending 57,955 applications in total. Uzbekistan leads other CIS countries by the number of applications (10.7 percent), followed by Kazakhstan (6.2 percent) and Tajikistan (5.2 percent). Many applications were sent from Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Ghana, Egypt and Algeria. Indonesia, Iran, China, Colombia, Morocco and Venezuela are among other origin countries. Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia accounted for 9.8 percent of all applications, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University for 7.2 percent and Kazan Federal University for 7.2 percent as the most popular Russian universities. Both engineering fields of study and humanities were in demand. Prospective students tended to choose economics and management (14.5 percent/2,175 people), clinical medicine (7.9 percent/1,194), informatics and computer hardware (7 percent/1,056), computer and information sciences (6.4 percent/966) and language and literature studies (4.2 percent/629). The top ten fields include law, political sciences, mechanical engineering, geology, mining and oil and gas field development, service and tourism.If you have not yet signed into studyinrussia.ru, do it now and follow the link to fill out a questionnaire.
