Six Russian Universities in THE Rankings by Subject

THE ranked universities for Arts and Humanities.

In 2019, Times Higher Education experts ranked 536 universities from across the world, up 30 from last year. Russia was represented by six higher education centres. Lomonosov Moscow State University tops the Russian league at 72nd position; the runner-up is Higher School of Economics which moved up from the 201-250 group into the 176-200 group. They are followed by St Petersburg State University and National Research Tomsk State University in the 201-250 group and Kazan Federal University (301-400). Ural Federal University appeared in the rankings for the first time as it entered the 301-400 group.

To select the best universities for arts and humanities, THE relies on 13 performance indicators similar to the criteria employed for composing overall world university rankings, such as academic reputation, citations of university researchers’ published works, international collaboration etc.
