SPbPU admitted 1,600 International Applicants

The university has announced intake 2017 results.

The inflow of international students has increased from last year when 980 foreigners were admitted. SPbPU first-years include students from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe. The largest number of students representing the Asian segment has traditionally come from China; there are also students from Vietnam, Iran, Turkey and Syria. The origin countries in Africa are Egypt, Algeria and Angola, and in Europe Latvia, Germany and France. A large portion of students came from Columbia, Peru and Ecuador boosting Latin America’s share in SPbPU student body. Many applicants came from Commonwealth of Independent States countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

Seventy five percent of international prospective students will pursue a bachelor’s degree. In 2017, top majors of international students are Economics, Management, IT Technology, Power Engineering and Civil Engineering. More than 450 students enrolled in Russian language course and pre-university training which underscores high interest in Preparatory Department programmes. SPbPU has more than 6,000 international students overall.
