The International polytechnic winter school 2022 has started its work at St.-Petersburg Polytech

The onlineInternational polytechnic winter school has started its work at St.-Petersburg polytechnic university (SPbPU). The new season brought together more than 450 students from 20 countries, including China, Germany, France, Portugal, Croatia, Italy, India and many others.

From January to March, 26 programs will be implemented. 6 of them will be held for the first time: “Transport Machines”, “Project Management for Sustainable Development”, “Quantitative Finance: Financial Markets”, “HR Analytics and Human Capital Development”, “Russia in the World”, and “World Languages ​​and TESOL”. Successful completion of the courses will result in internationally recognized certificates with ECTS credits, which participants can use at their home universities.

More than 350 participants joined the opening ceremony on the Microsoft Teams platform. Among them there were many students from SPbPU’s partner universities: Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Maritime University (all from China), Technical University of Munich (Germany), etc.

The students were welcomed by the programs’ directors. Vyacheslav Potekhin, head of the winter school's IT department, emphasized that this year students would have updated programs on big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Oksana Evseeva, director of the Center for information and program support, spoke about the programs in economics and management.

The students were particularly interested in the program “Quantitative Finance: Financial Markets”, whose development began as early as in 2019. Upon completing this program, participants will have knowledge in evaluation of assets’ profitability and risks, experience in financial modeling using various software tools, will learn how to conduct comprehensive interpretation of available information and make informed decisions in management and analytics.
