Two Russian universities will open their branches in Uzbekistan

Two more branches of Russian universities will be opened in Uzbekistan, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports. According to Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, this was one of the topics he discussed during his visit to Tashkent where he met with Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The minister did not specify which universities are in question here.

Lavrov noted that the discussion covered all areas of cooperation agreed on by the leadership of Uzbekistan and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Kazan Federal University branch is set on being open in Jizzakh in September this year. The new branch is planning on enrolling 330 students for its first academic year, written and oral examinations will be conducted by professors of Kazan Federal University.

Five buildings and four and a half hectares of land that used to belong to a former aviation academy were transferred to the needs of the branch. Repairs and reconstruction work, as well as the construction of new buildings have startedin May.

Uzbekistan is the leader in terms of the number of Russian University branches with 15 branches all over the country. Moscow State University, MEPhI, MGIMO, VGIK, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Herzen State Pedagogical University and other leading Russian universities have opened their representative offices in the country. Now about fifty-three thousand citizens of Uzbekistan study at the universities of the Russian Federation, including students of branches.
