Victory Day: Celebrate Together

Russia marks the 73th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

International students participate in all Russian holydays. 9 May is a special date for Russian people; it commemorates the victory over Nazi Germany. Various activities are held in all towns across the country. Universities host concerts, photo exhibitions dedicated to fallen soldiers, meetings etc. Students recall heroes of Great Patriotic War, lay flowers at war memorials, congratulate veterans. Students from Far Eastern Federal University, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, Siberian Federal University, National University of Science and Technology MISIS, Kazan Federal University, South Ural Federal University and others have already taken part in the ceremonies. Also bicycle race was organized at IKBFU, and athletic race was held at FEFU in honor of the Victory Day. KFU students marched from Kazan Kremlin to the main university building. SPbPU students held military-patriotic forum in Karelia. They visited sites of military glory, heroes’ graves and monuments. At many Russian universities, students took volunteer training; thanks to that, they can organize ceremonial events.

Victory Day is one of the key Russian holyday. This day, Victory Parades will run, as well as Immortal Regiment March, when Russians will carry through the streets portraits of their relatives fallen during the war. Military music will play, guests will be treated to buckwheat with canned meat and thundering fireworks shows start as the night falls.
