Where Best Paid IT Specialists Are Trained

The Superjob portal ranked the salaries of engineering universities alumni.

The annual survey targeted salaries of young IT specialists who graduated from Russian universities in the period from 2014 to 2019. Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology alumni top the list with the average monthly salary at 180,000 rubles, up 11 percent from the 2013-2019 period. The second place is shared by Bauman Moscow State Technical University and ITMO University with alumni’s salary expectations at 160,000 rubles per month. The third place went to the Lomonosov Moscow State University whose alumni with a degree in IT earn 155,000 rubles per month. The top ten included National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (150,000 rubles per month), Higher School of Economics (145,000 rubles), Novosibirsk State University (140,000 rubles), National University of Science and Technology MISIS (120,000 rubles) and Peter the Great St Petersburg Polytechnic University (115,000 rubles).

According to the survey, IT specialists incomes increase steadily. HSE and Saint Petersburg State University alumni salaries showed the largest increase (up 35,000 rubles); ITMO University alumni’s salaries increased by 32,000 rubles and Novosibirsk State University alumni’s salaries by 28,000 rubles.

Employers regard IT as one of the most promising and sought-after fields of study so graduates easily find jobs; many of them start working when they still study at the university. Russian universities offer many programmes of different education levels in such fields as Informatics and Computer Science, Cybersecurity or Computer and Information Science.
